A promise ring is the perfect step to take if you are in a committed relationship but are not quite ready for a formal engagement ring.  A formal engagement comes with a lot of additional stress and pressure.  Besides all of the emotions, they also come with a lot of financial pressure.  The price of an engagement ring today is incredibly high. 

Once you know that you are not going to go the engagement ring route, there are a few basic things to remember.  I will go through some of the basic tips of buying and presenting your ring:

·         Budget.  Promise rings are so versatile.  You can select a ring made in any metal, ranging from silver to platinum.  Also, there are choices in terms of stones.  You can select diamonds or colored stones.  The choices are endless.  With those choices also come many budget issues.  If you are on a budget, it’s important to first know what that is before you even start looking.  You might be pressured into selecting something that is way over your budget and therefore you will feel negative connotations associated with your purchase.  With the variety available, there is no reason you cannot get exactly the style you want in your budget.  

·         Presentation:  It is very importation to know where, when and how you want to present.  The where and the when are just as important as the how.  There are so many great ideas on presenting creatively.  You can also opt to go with a less crazy presentation or even pick out the ring together.  There is no right or wrong answer.  It is simply a matter of knowing what you want and really thinking it out.

·         Details.  Details like gift wrapping and knowing the finger size are incredibly important.  You can find that you have spent a lot of money and that if the details are not thought out, then it really does not make the moment special.   Having all of the small things thought out and well organized will make the presentation even better.

·         Make it special.  Think beyond the moment when you present.  You might want to make a day of it.  Take her someplace special like to the zoo or aquarium, a romantic dinner afterwards and then make your presentation.  It will be sure to stay in her mind for a long time.

·         Intentions:  Be careful how you present.  If you get down on one knee, she might think it’s an engagement ring.  Be sure to first say what you are doing and then present. It can make for an awkward moment if you do not do that!
